I don't think I have ever faced my fears by consciously putting God in front. I would be more likely to avoid the problem or run away from it first. Even though I was always told from the time I was young to "put God first" and to "have faith", I think the true meaning of those words were lost to me over the years, and had become empty and meaningless clichés.
Posts like this which use relatable scenarios I find bring renewed meaning and power to what it really means to let God take control; I have printed this one to keep on file.

Yes, absolutely. Fear, like every emotion, is a gift from God. God uses our emotions to move us to do things we would not otherwise do. Unfortunately, if our emotions are left unchecked, they can do us damage. With fear, it can cause us to be paralyzed, run away, or attack. That's why this story is so good at showing how we should engage. You have a great example of how God used fear in your life to move you to do the right thing. Thanks for sharing.

I think fear can be positive sometimes depending on how you look at it. It can trigger you to engage the defence gear and get into a fighting mode to protect yourself and your loved ones. I learnt that when faced with an abusive relationship. At that time, it didnt feel like faith. I felt like a power behind me that pushed me into doing things and believing in the impossible. I left him and got myself out, found a new job and left with the kids. What was in my mind was to escape just thinking I will cross the bridge when I get to it. Can attest today that God is power and leads one to highs that you never think of possible.

Thank you. This is what I have been starting to realize more and more, i.e. God's unconditional love no matter who or what we are, although sometimes I think I forget.

I have been trying to get closer to God, but am struggling with a few issues. Would it be ok if I asked you a few questions either via e-mail or on the public blog if that is preferable to you?

Remy, one of the things that always strikes me about fear is how it is most often the first thing God's messengers address: "Fear not" they say! It makes me wonder about God's connection to my own fears. Coud it be that every fear I experience also presents an opportunity for growth if I will turn my fear over to God for God's working in it? Can fear be a reminder of living by my own principles?

Hi Remy:

In 1991 my 19 year old son was a freshman in college, he lost a kidney to cancer. I saw the weight just melt away, from this strong young man, going from 220 to about 145 in a short time. I fired God, because I could not trust that any good would ever come of this tough time in his, and our family's life. I returned to my faith after struggling with it for years, many years later.
This young man is well, and very much loving this second chance at life. He will be running his 5th NYC Marathon this Fall. He married three years ago, and the last hope, was a miracle of the gift of a pregnant wife. He was told because of all the chemo and radiation, that it was possible he could be infertile. Thanksgiving dinner had me crying tears of joy, a baby due end of this coming May. Our joy is complete, and even though there were times that my faith was tested, God never let go, and in His time, all is well.
